The Application and Interpretation of

Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

• Are your supplier’s questions leading you to believe your drawings are unclear or ambiguous?

• Are you spending a lot of time correcting drawing errors?

1. Who can decipher ASME Y14.5 isn’t it to hard to understand?

2. What advantages are there to using Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GDT)

3. Where can I find the training and books to help me understand and apply GDT?

4. How do I know where it is appropriate to apply GDT symbology?

Design, Manufacturing and Inspection activities require the use of Engineering Drawings to define part configurations from product specifications, interpret those drawing requirements to setup machinery used to produce the parts and assist the Inspector in taking measurements to assure the parts meet the Engineering Drawing. The reference standard for making and reading Engineering Drawings is AMSE Y14.5, for many, this document is very technical and difficult to understand. This three hour ASQ 3-Hour Workshop will provide each attendee a basic understanding in the contents and application of AMSE Y14.5

Speaker biography:

Michael A. Sandford is the President of Technical Documentation Consultants of Arizona, Inc.    Mr. Sandford has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from New Mexico State University and a MS in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Arizona.

Mr. Sandford is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Allied Weight Engineers, is a certified ASME Senior Level Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Professional.

Mr. Sandford has extensive experience in the design, fabrication, assembly, and test of a wide variety of mechanical components. Using the concepts of GD&T for the design of mechanical hardware has enabled Mr. Sandford to design, assemble, and test hundreds of parts successfully.

Dinner will be served promptly at 5:30 and the program will begin at 6:00 PM
