Typical Workshop (4/2002)

Workshops are held once per month (usually 4th Wednesday) as a cost effective way to keep up to date on quality practices, and to network with some of the best quality professionals in industry.  Dinner & 0.3 re-certification units included.  See feedback from past workshops,  "... the workshop was AWESOME!", or  "... the best investment I've made in years".

This Month's Workshop

Our June workshop went well.  See details here.

Note that July's original scheduled topic of time management principles has been moved to September.  Our new July workshop will be as follows:

Program Abstract

We're combining the DOE modular course with the three hour workshop format to bring you a potpourri of DOE topics meant to interest those at any level of experience and knowledge on the subject.

Bring your laptop

Computer programs and Excel files will be distributed and reviewed as time permits.  Laptops are not mandatory but make the class more fun and help in taking notes and performing exercises.

350MB of DOE Files to be Distributed

Printouts and a CD with over 350MB of DOE related files will be distributed as follows:

  • Calculators - 5

  • Articles reprints - 91

  • College Course Notes - 3 sets

  • Glossaries - 4

  • Report Examples - 7

  • DOE Software Packages (trial or evaluation) - 10

  • Spreadsheets - 20

  • Webinars / Presentations - 3

  • Article Archive Links - 7

  • E-books and e-book links - 4

  • People Profiles - 8

  • Presentation Slides - 100+

  • Saved Websites and Links - 8

A Few Possible Questions for Discussion:

  • Can you share a DOE story ... either good or bad?

  • Which software do you like to use and why?

  • Do you have anything DOE related to share?  Special tools or techniques, presentation slides, books, articles, quizzes, stories, school papers, spreadsheets, programs, brochures, etc.?

  • When should DOE's really be used?

  • Why aren't they used when they should be used?

  • What are common fears of applying DOE?

  • How can we overcome those fears?

  • What types of questions will be asked about DOE on CRE, CQE, and or SSBB ASQ certification exams?

Agenda

Our tentative agenda is as follows:

  • Review best of my basic DOE slides while everyone prepares their CD on their laptops.  15 - 30 minutes

  • Review the CD and individual files.  45 - 60 minutes

  • Break every hour. 10 - 15 minutes

  • Work ASQ certification questions as possible.  15-45 minutes

  • Review the best of my intermediate and advanced DOE slides. 30 - 45 minutes

  • Discussion and or work spreadsheet or software examples. 30 - 45 minutes

This workshop should be a lot of fun for those that wish to learn more about DOE and or share ideas, questions, comments, stories, spreadsheets, etc.  We will follow a workshop forum format and so it may be different depending upon your input, questions, special requests in advance, etc.
