William H. Woodall 

Since 1949, ASQ has presented the Brumbaugh Award to the author of the paper published in the preceding year in Quality Progress, Quality Engineering, or the Journal of Quality Technology that has made the largest single contribution to the industrial applications of quality control.  William H. Woodall is the recipient for 2000 for his paper "Controversies and Contradictions in Sta-tistical Process Control" (Publication with discussion; or direct to article Adobe Acrobat 144kb) published in the Journal of Quality Technology, vol. 32, No. 4, pp. 341-350.    Woodall is a professor in the department of statistics at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.
