"Reliability Part 8 - Testing"

(91kb pdf file; viewer at page bottom)

by Hank Posters

Reliability tests are performed to ensure new designs, products, and systems meet performance requirements including quality, reliability, safety, and if applicable, regulatory requirements. Extensive testing reduces a business’ exposure to financial and operational risks.  In general the amount of testing required is proportional to the amount of uncertainty and variability in the design and manufacturing of a product. More uncertainty in the design and/or higher variability in manufacturing processes, components, and materials necessitate more testing.
