MESSAGE FROM THE EDUCATION CHAIR

"Pre-clinics Are a Hit!"

Section Members & Honored Eavesdroppers,

This month's section meeting successfully experimented with reinstating pre-clinics prior to our regular meetings, after about a 10 year hiatus ... or did it?

While the pre-clinic was a hit this month, it was taught by a real professional who discussed his latest publication and even tossed in a story or two about his personal experiences with Deming and Juran.  So while it seemed to be a hit, it will be a hard act to follow.  Can we keep up the momentum?

Some advantages of pre-clinics in theory include:

  • to allow members to share personal techniques, stories, case studies of how they've used related models, methods, and tools, etc.

  • to allow members to gain twice as many re-certification units per meeting

  • to double the potential of members finding meetings worth attending.

  • to improve hands-on, more active participation

  • to allow students to share term papers while soliciting feedback from industry

  • to allow members to build public speaking skills, key to our profession as quality professionals and facilitators

  • ... and the list goes on

While I'm sure we can twist the arm of one of our officers to speak at the last moment, please help yourself and our membership by preparing a short 15-30 minute talk on a quality topic (may include slides or a handout).  Contact Abe or Kim if you have any questions or can help.

Current Educational Course Status

  • Several new courses are now just being offered (CQI, CQA, CQM/OE, and Stats for CQE and CSSBB).  See details on our refresher course page.

Other Announcements

I look forward to hearing from you and or seeing you soon,

Sincerely,

Dave Clinard
