MESSAGE FROM THE SECTION CHAIR

Greetings Quality Professionals!

First day of Autumn is less than a week away, the Chargers are 2 & 0 and we are beginning to see that the dampness and chill of winter is not far off!

ASQ Day at the Padres

This Sunday, September 22nd a couple of dozen ASQ Members and their immediate family are going to ASQ Day at the Padres when our San Diego Padres play their archrivals: the L.A. Dodgers, game time 2:00 P.M.

This is a fun event meant to promote attendance and include family members in the fun. ASQ Officers and Board members have committed to serving the attendees a free lunch at our tailgate party prior to the game. The festivities will begin at noon at the Qualcomm Stadium Parking Lot Section M-3 where we will have barbequed chicken, hotdogs, hamburgers, soft drinks and a side dish or two. Be sure to check the website (ASQ Day at the Padres).

Statistics for Quality Engineering: DOE and Other Techniques 3-Hour Workshop

Make it a point to come out and find out how you can apply these valuable statistical tools to your organization for a very low price when Dr. Leonard Perry of USD will be presenting on this interesting topic on September 25th. This is sure to be a very good Workshop where all your questions and Statistical challenges will be answered Be sure to check the website (3-Hour Workshop page).

Facilities Fees Increase

We have been asked by Catering By Design to pay a substantial increase in fees to hold our events there. We will try to keep these fees as manageable as possible but are also open to suggestions. If you know of a Restaurant or Hotel in a central area with similar facilities please let us know so we can investigate our alternatives. We will keep you posted as to any increased fees as necessary.

Idea’s

If you have suggestions for future events please feel free to contact your Board Members with your ideas. Please consider coming to our 3-Hour Workshops and Section Meetings! You will be rewarded with door prizes and a stimulating series of educational opportunities. I encourage each and every one of you to take advantage of these by checking our website for the very latest information on Local jobs, Workshops, Refresher Courses, Regional and National Seminars and Conferences.

I hope to see you at the 3-Hour Workshop this month!

Best regards,

Don Griego

MESSAGE FROM THE EDUCATION CHAIR

Dear ASQ Members:

The San Diego section 703 Education Committee is interested in learning what refresher courses you would like us to present this fiscal year. In the past, the Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) and the Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) have been the most widely attended refresher courses. However, we can also provide courses to help you prepare for the Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE) or the Certified Mechanical Inspector (CMI).

Meanwhile, keep in mind that our refresher courses have been improved. The cost of the refresher courses is still quite inexpensive compared to online certification offered by the ASQ Headquarters. For less that $200, you can attend classes taught by professionals in the industry, network with other quality professionals studying for certification, have a hot meal provided at a well-equipped facility, the Ericcson Design Center on Lusk Blvd.

So let us know what your educational needs are.  Please send your feedback to http://www.asqsandiego.org/feedback.htm.  Feel free to contact me at sapstol@cisco.com with any questions or concerns regarding the ASQ Quality Education Program.

Sincerely,

Stacy Apostol

Education Committee Chair
