MESSAGE FROM THE EDUCATION CHAIR

"Call for Papers"

Section Members & Honored Eavesdroppers,

A recent study of papers written by our section members and published by our section on a quarterly basis shows an alarming drop off recently as follows:

Why should you write articles for our section?

  • Many of our authors have ASQ certifications which require on-going maintenance. One method of doing this is by becoming a section 703 published author. One re-certification credit is given by ASQ for every article published.

  • By becoming an author your message, products, and or business presence is announced to the entire San Diego Quality community for years to come via our web site, and our mailings.

  • One way to further ones career is to provide evidence that he/she is a leader in their related profession. Becoming an author looks good on the resume.

  • By guiding others, the entire quality profession benefits. Therefore, it's a good way to pay back society for your good fortune in life.

  • It's a good way to gain writing experience and or to test out important ideas you might want to write a book on later on.  Our review board will assist you in your journey.

Submit your article by emailing me or through our author guidelines page at http://www.asqsandiego.org/authorguide.htm

"Talent Crises - Lean Six Sigma"

(35kb Word file)

by Tim Noble

As 77 million U.S. Baby Boomers begin to retire over the next decade, there are only 46 million Gen-X’ers available to backfill the Boomers’ retiring ranks. Even with a modest two percent economic growth rate over the next 15 years, demand for critical talent could increase by as much as a third, creating a “war” for critical talent.  Lean and Six Sigma will be part of the solution to this problem.
